Community Dinner brings artists and patrons together to break bread

FORT COLLINS, Colorado — Described as “Casserole with a Goal”, Art Lab Super Club brings artists and patrons together to support art projects in Fort Collins. Artists and patrons alike kick in $15 and sit down for a simple, hearty locally-sourced meal prepared by local chefs. During the dinner, artists have 5 minute to pitch a project in need of funding. At the end of the evening, all diners vote to award the evening’s proceeds to one worthy artist.

Art Lab Supper Club will take place Saturday, October 16th from 6 to 9p.m. at Art Lab Fort Collins, 239 Linden St. in Old Town Fort Collins. Tickets can be purchased for $15 online at www.ArtLabFortCollins.org or $20 at the door. Those who can’t attend the dinner can contribute to the kitty with an online donation.

Art Lab volunteer and Supper Club founder, Tomas Herrera thinks this is a perfect fit for Art Lab and Fort Collins. “We have a strong, active arts community here and a definite need for project funding. We also have really wonderful patrons who support our work. Art lab allows these two groups to sit down together over a delicious meal. Everybody’s got to eat, right?”
Inspired by similar events in other cities, the folks at Art Lab think Supper Club could become a regularly occurring event. Co-founder and fairy godmother, Dawn Putney adds: “We’ve seen a lot of interest from a pretty diverse group of artist and art lovers. As with everything at Art Lab, this is a big experiment, and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.”
In just over a year of operation, Art Lab has hosted fine art from nationally established artists, first time exhibitors, children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities as well as local and touring musicians of every ilk, regional theatre, performance artist and modern dance troupes.
