FORT COLLINS, Colorado — Art Lab is a fresh way to see art in Fort Collins, and rings in the new year with our inaugural multi-artist fine art exhibition. It is not a traditional gallery or show — it’s different because its scene is always changing: Art Lab Fort Collins is never the same, it changes with the venue. At the January 8th Gallery Walk, Art Lab’s first fine art opening since becoming an official member of the Fort Collins Arts District, Art Lab is pleased to open in their new Old Town Fort Collins location, 239 Linden Street, with a very talented group of local artists who are known worldwide.
It is a treat for Art Lab and community to present Scenes from Colorado in the 21st Century. Curated by Patrick Zoller, this show will display the vision of Colorado as seen by seven of our finest local artists:
Marie Massey - Painting
Ron Sweetin - Photography
Heather Coen - Painting

Dawn Putney, co-founder and fairy godmother of this creative new space for art and community in Fort Collins, says that Art Lab helps showcase and promote creativity in the community. “Art Lab is an experimental space for art. It moves, changes shape and pushes boundaries,” she explains. “It’s a happy surprise for people who wander through the doors. It is a place to have a good time and experience great art.”
Art Lab is about art. It's about the coming-together of a hep space, artists, and people who want to see art happen. “Art Lab is a different way of seeing Fort Collins,” says Patty Spencer of Realtec, a commercial real estate company based in Fort Collins, and sponsor of Art Lab. “It gives art a temporary, flexible home in Old Town. It literally changes the way you look at a store-front or venue.”
The goal of Art Lab is to actively create art experiences that put the gears of change in motion. Something tangible that we can see, that enhances the lives of local artists, and continues to enhance downtown Fort Collins. This unique cooperative art exhibit will only be open to the public from January 8th through January 29th. There will be a full reception and art party on Friday, January 8th from 6-9 pm with live music. This family-friendly reception will give everyone the chance to meet all the artists, and find out more about their visions of Colorado.

ABOUT ART LAB FORT COLLINS
Art Lab Fort Collins is a community arts and culture project that was born from friends coming together and is now inviting all to experiment, participate, and create. This experimental art space was created by a group of local artists and business leaders the summer of 2009 to bring life to the empty store fronts of Old Town Fort Collins. Art Lab is an economic development initiative that incubates the future of the creative community in Fort Collins by transforming under-appreciated retail locations into an innovative arts and cultural opportunity, making it possible for the local creative industry to innovate and experiment on bold new projects. It revives potential establishments, and inspires current and future entrepreneurs. Visit www.ArtLabFortCollins.com or contact (970) 556-8600 for more information.
